On Sunday 19th July,, I’ll be supporting the charity PKD, Polycystic Kidney Disease, by abseiling Northampton’s infamous “Lift Tower”. Some 418 feet tall.
Many are aware that on 27th November last year, my wife and I went through a life changing operation where I donated a kidney for her. Justine found out she had the hereditary disease at the age of 13. Living with the thought that she would not live past 60. With her father passing away at 61 after two failed kidney transplants, her uncle at 42 grandfather at 38 and her sister at 52,
Justine’s cousin Lisa, who also has PKD, and of similar age, entered into the live kidney donation pool, having her transplant from a donor in Edinburgh, at Plymouth’s Deriford Hospital, early March.
Polycystic Kidney Disease is a range of life-threatening inherited conditions that can cause kidney failure and affect other organs. Research is the only way to stop the progression of PKD and transform the lives of those affected today and in the future. Www.pkdcidity.org.uk
To help us in this research please sponsor by donating. Both strong women, Justine and her cousin Lisa with be attending to support alongside Lisa’s husband Mark who will also be taking part.
