Stepping together for St Kentigern Hospice

Mark Connelly is raising money for St Kentigern Hospice

St Kentigern Hospice Fire Walk · 23 October 2026

Here at St Kentigern Hospice we offer specialist palliative care for people with life threatening or life limiting illnesses. We focus on the patient's quality of life by controlling symptoms through a holistic approach taking into account their physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs.

Story

Every day at St Kentigern Hospice, we see what it means when a community cares for its neighbours. We see kindness in the time our volunteers give, the generosity of our supporters, and the care our colleagues offer to patients and families.

On Friday 23 October, four of us will be stepping outside our everyday roles and taking on a fire walk together:

🔥 Mark Connelly – Fundraising Manager

🔥 Victoria Grimster – Matron

🔥 Sam Ricketts – Caffi Cariad Chef

🔥 Barry Easton – Nurse Associate

We each contribute to hospice life in different ways, but we share the same belief: everyone facing a life-limiting illness deserves compassion, dignity and support, and the people who love them deserve care too.

That is why we’re taking these steps together.

At St Kentigern Hospice, care can mean helping someone manage pain and symptoms, supporting their wellbeing, or giving a family time to sit together and simply be themselves. It can mean a listening ear, a comforting meal, a moment of laughter, or a reassuring presence when things feel uncertain.

Through inpatient care, the Wellbeing Hwb, and support for families and loved ones, the hospice helps people feel supported through some of the most difficult times in their lives. Behind every part of that care are people who take the time to listen, understand and ask what matters most.

And around them is a community that helps make it possible.

By sponsoring our fire walk, you will help that care continue for local people and their families. Whatever you can give, your support is an act of kindness that reaches beyond the four of us taking part.

We hope our challenge will encourage others to get involved too. You might donate, share our page with friends and family, or even join the fire walk yourself. Every person who gets involved helps bring our community closer together around something that matters.

We’ll be encouraging one another across the embers, and we would love to have you cheering us on.

Thank you for supporting us, and for helping care for the people who need St Kentigern Hospice.

With warm thanks,

Mark, Victoria, Sam and Barry
