Story
On 17th April, myself and a group of amazing friends will be taking on a 100‑mile trek across the great South Downs over four days, so a marathon a day, all to raise money for the Royal Surrey St Luke’s Cancer Centre.
We each have our own reasons for taking part in this challenge. Some are walking in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. For me, the motivation is deeply personal.
In November 2024, I was diagnosed with Head and Neck Cancer after discovering a lump on my neck. Treatment began in January 2025—six weeks of daily radiotherapy, two chemotherapy sessions, and the fitting of a feeding tube. It was an incredibly tough journey, made easier by the incredible people and staff at St Luke's.
On 9th June 2025, I received the life‑changing news that the treatment had been successful—I was finally cancer‑free.
Now, I want to give something back to the incredible team at St Luke’s who supported me every step of the way.
This challenge is our way of saying thank you and hopefully the money raised can help to save others too.
