On Wednesday 17th December the children at St Mary's Catholic Primary School are taking part in a fun sponsored Reindeer Rush to raise funds for St Leonard's Hospice.

St Leonard’s Hospice provides care and support for people with life limiting illnesses and their families when they need it most, and we’ve been doing it for 40 years. Our patients’ needs are our priority, and our care is designed to make the best of their lives. We provide care at our Hospice, in patients’ homes, and in our community.

We provide care for free, but it’s not free to provide. It costs £8.3 million a year, and just a quarter of that comes from the government. We rely on the generosity of our community for the rest. Your donation means we can be here to help more people in York and surrounding areas when they need us most.

We can’t wait to see all the fun the children get up to! All the funds St Mary's raise are greatly appreciated and will help us to continue to provide our expert care and support:

• £2 could buy tea bags, giving family members a much-needed brew during difficult conversations

• £25 could buy a memory box, helping a child who has lost a parent to gather and save special memories

• As a school, raising £100 could help patients stay pain free and focused on spending time with their loved ones while they still can
