Story
This Lent we are raising funds for a statue of Our Lady of Walsingham for The Monastery of the Holy Spirit, Gweru for whom we raised funds last year for a Statue of St Benedict. Religious life is thriving in Zimbabwe but they don't have the easy access to the devotional items and statues we enjoy.
The Holy Spirit Monastery is a Religious Community following the traditional Rule of St Benedict. It was founded on 16 September 2017 by a group of nuns and friars who made a decision to move away from the CZM. The HSM was inaugurated in September 2017 by Bishop Ishmael Mukwanda of the Diocese of Central Zimbabwe (now retired). The Religious Community has a constitution and a Rule of life and observes the vows of Obedience, Stability and Conversion of Life. It has a visitor, the Rt Rev Ignatios Makumbe who is the current serving Bishop of Central Zimbabwe.
