Story
Over the last few years we have raised significant funds for much needed local charities through our Mountain challenge initiatives:
o 2018 - Three Peaks Challenge (Climbing the highest 3 mountains in the UK), this raised over £7,000 for St Barnabas.
o 2019 - Welsh 3000’s (climbing the highest mountains in North Wales), raising £6,500 for Guild Care.
o 2022 - Wainwright Challenge (Highest Mountains in the Lake District), which raised over £8,000 for Turning Tides.
o 2023 - West Highland Way (West Coast of Scotland) and Part 1 of South Downs by night raised £12,000 for Marie-Curie.
o We have now set our sights on two new challenges. To walk part of the 84-mile Hadrian's Walls trail with 21 year 10 students. To walk 26 miles between Amberley and Brighton at night on the South Downs trail.
The Hadrian’s Wall trail.
The Hadrian’s Wall is an EPIC 84-mile route which makes its way across Northumberland, The National Trail passes through some of the most beautiful parts of England, from rolling fields and rugged borderlands to the historical monuments built over 1500 years ago. Walking Hadrian's Wall trail, an ancient Roman fortification spanning across the rugged landscape of northern England, presents an exhilarating yet challenging adventure. While the journey offers unparalleled scenic beauty and a glimpse into history, it comes with its own set of difficulties that test the endurance, determination, and preparation of any traveller. The mountain challenge itself will be an exhausting but memorable feat. The selected group of 21 students and 6 staff will carry out this challenge between Thursday 23rd and Monday 27th May 2024.
South Downs Way.
On Friday 21st of June 2024 we are giving 60 students the opportunity to participate in part 2 of our South Downs Walk. Moving between Amberley station and Brighton along the South Downs trail. What makes this challenge difficult is the distance (43km) and that student are doing it through the night. The South Downs way is a spectacular and stunning route that moves through the heart of Sussex. Despite the challenges, walking the South Downs Way offers students a rewarding and enriching experience.
The Charity that we will be supporting this year will be Mary’s Meals. If you are unsure of the charity please have a little read here https://www.marysmeals.org.uk/what-we-do/where-we-work. The impact of the charity is far reaching and the work that they do with the young is inspirational. If you could help contribute to this amazing charity, by any means possible, it would be gratefully received. You can either donate using this JustGiving page.
