5K run · 7 June 2025

The Law Centre stands up for people's rights through specialist casework in five major areas: housing, immigration, welfare benefits, education and debt. We also run legal advice clinics for those who cannot otherwise afford a lawyer. We are good at what we do and your support goes a long way.

Story

Sponsor us - a group of very unprofessional runners! - to run 5k in support of the young people helped by the Breaking the Chains project, a collaboration between MiCLU and Shpresa Programme.

Breaking the Chains addresses the critical needs of asylum-seeking children and young people in the UK. The young people we work with have fled severe threats such as blood feuds, honour-based violence, and trafficking, yet face a daunting asylum process with considerable obstacles to securing protection at first instance.

The project offers holistic, child-centred legal support and empowers young people through initiatives like the Immigration Champions programme, where young people advocate for their peers and contribute to policy discussions.

We are seeking funds to pay for expert research highlighting the young people's needs for protection which is not available through legal aid.

We'll be running in Stratford Park on 7 June at 11am. Support us through making a donation, or join us! Contact deboraht@islingtonlaw.org.uk if you have any questions.

Check back here after Saturday for photos!
