Wharfedale Three Peaks is raising money for Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association

Wharfedale Three Peaks carrying a stretcher! · 28 June 2025

For over 70 years UWFRA has been rescuing people and animals from the caves, mineshafts, fells and crags of Wharfedale, Nidderdale, Littondale and Mid-Airedale. Our rescue services remain free to all who need us, day or night and are financed entirely by fundraising events and donations.

Story

This summer, four dedicated members of the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) are taking on an epic challenge; their own Wharfedale Three Peaks Challenge while carrying a stretcher on their backs!

This will be no easy feat. Although the stretcher is designed to be carried on the hill it is not the comfiest and will be a true test of endurance and stamina over 3 peaks and 17 miles.

Their mission? To raise crucial funds for the refurbishment of their communications vehicle, equipping it with cutting-edge technology to enhance rescue operations. The estimated cost of the refurbishment is £5,000. Every contribution will help ensure UWFRA continues to save lives above and below ground.
