Stripy Feb fundraiser for Rare Disease Day 2026

Emily Pepperell is raising money for Medics for Rare Disease
“Rare Disease Day 2026”

on 28 February 2026

We are driving an attitude change towards rare diseases amongst medical students and doctors in training. We're helping doctors to: * Appreciate that rare diseases are collectively common * Recognise the exceptional challenges faced by patients with rare diseases

Story

Rare diseases are individually rare but collectively common!

In the UK alone, 3.5 million people are living with a rare disease, often experiencing delayed diagnoses, limited treatment options and a lack of understanding. There are over 6,000 rare diseases and no single clinician can know them all. Yet by becoming 'Rare Aware', we can dramatically improve the lives of people affected by rare conditions.

Medics For Rare Disease’s mission is to shape a medical profession that can provide people living with rare conditions a timely diagnosis and excellent care.

Rare Disease Day 2026 is coming up on the 28th of February.

Since 2022, Medics for Rare Disease has invited healthcare professionals (HCPs), medical students and supporters to #ShowYourStripes by wearing stripy socks to spark conversations, raise awareness and show solidarity with the rare community.

To support our friends at Medics for Rare, we are running a 'stripy February' fundraiser with a different stripy themed activity each week of the month!

Please donate to show your support, and join their campaign by sharing your stripes :)
