Story
Why I’m Doing This
In April 2020, the day before my birthday, I lost my mum.
During one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced, the care, compassion and support we received from Mountbatten Hospice meant more to us than words can properly describe. The staff didn’t just look after my mum — they supported all of us, making an incredibly painful time a little more bearable with kindness, dignity and understanding.
Since losing her, I’ve tried to mark her memory each year by taking on a personal challenge to raise money and awareness for Mountbatten. Over the past couple of years life and other commitments made it difficult to do something properly, but this year feels like the right moment to go bigger than ever.
In April I turn 21, and to mark that milestone I’m committing to a full year of challenges from April 2026 to April 2027 — pushing myself physically while raising as much as possible for the hospice that supported my family when we needed it most.
Throughout the year I’ll be taking on a series of endurance and fitness challenges, including:
• Walking 77 miles around the Isle of Wight
• Competing in HYROX
• Hosting charity fitness events and community challenges
• Finishing the year by running a marathon
As a personal trainer, I’m used to pushing myself physically — but this challenge is about something far bigger than fitness. It’s about honouring my mum’s memory and giving back to a place that gives so much support to families across the Isle of Wight every single day.
Every donation will help Mountbatten continue their incredible work supporting people and families through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
The Impact Your Donation Can Make
Mountbatten Hospice provides specialist care and support to people across the Isle of Wight living with life-limiting illness, as well as helping their families through incredibly difficult times.
Donations help fund:
• specialist nurses and medical care
• emotional and bereavement support for families
• hospice care for patients across the island
Every contribution, no matter the size, genuinely makes a difference.
If you’re able to donate, share this page, or support one of the challenges along the way, it would mean a huge amount.
Thank you for helping me honour my mum’s memory and support the amazing work Mountbatten Hospice does for our community.
