Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to £35 million per year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

From June 2nd to June 12th, 2025, a team of seven Army and RAF service personnel along with support staff from DSEME will be cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End—covering approximately 1,000 miles in just ten days—as a small sacrifice to raise as many funds as possible for this worthy cause. Our target is to raise a minimum of £1,500.

In April 2024, a close friend and colleague of several members of our team collapsed at home while training for the London Marathon, surrounded by his family. After further tests, he was diagnosed with two large inoperable brain tumours, both potentially terminal. Following surgery to remove one tumour, he underwent intense radiotherapy and chemotherapy. After approximately nine months and further scans, he received a tumour-free clearance—a surprise to his family and doctors alike. This remarkable outcome would not have been possible without the research and dedication provided by Brain Tumour Research.

Just before Christmas, another team member's sister experienced a seizure at home and was subsequently diagnosed with two brain tumours. After Christmas, she underwent surgery to remove them; however, the smaller tumour could not be removed. She has now begun six weeks of radiotherapy followed by six months of chemotherapy in hopes of eliminating the remaining tumour.

Recently, another team member learned that a close family friend has also been diagnosed with potential terminal brain tumours and is just beginning their journey after receiving this devastating news. All these individuals and their families are now heavily reliant on the services and support provided by Brain Tumour Research. Any funds raised will help support their journeys through these challenging times with hope for positive outcomes.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer; yet just 1% of national spending on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable! We are fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK.

Please help us fund the fight against brain tumours. Together we can find a cure!

Please donate what you can to this great cause.
