Stuart Boon and Xavier Andrews fundraiser MEGA-WALK for Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre

Simon Evans is raising money for Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre

Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre (DCHC) | Who Knew Walk · 7 July 2026

We have been offering children a free holiday to Skegness since 1891. Our centre provides a secure, cosy, and exciting environment for children. Children are nominated to us for a wide variety of reasons, such as financial struggles, respite care, recovery from trauma, or support with well-being.

Story

Following our successful walk last year from Derby to Blackpool, we have developed a new plan whilst working with Simon Evans (DCHC Trustee) to raise funds for the Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre (DCHC) via a JustGiving page.

Both Xavier and I are passionate about this charity which has meant so much to me since I was a child. Our aim with the 'Who Knew Walk' is to raise awareness of the numerous Derbyshire towns where the charity engages with disadvantaged children and who are able to enjoy a holiday at our home in Skegness.

The walk will start on Tuesday 7th July and complete on Saturday 11th July. It will take us from Glossop to Buxton; Buxton to Bakewell and onto Chesterfield; Chesterfield to Alfreton and onto Belper; Belper to Kilburn, Heanor, Ilkeston then to Spondon and into Derby before our final leg from Derby to Melbourne, Ticknall before finishing in Swadlincote.

A total of 102 miles; the same distance that the holiday centre in Skegness is from Derby.
