Story

Hi,

----------

Please note: Due to a change in circumstances, I am now taking part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk instead of the Aberdeen Kiltwalk. All donations made through this page will support the same charity, Scotland Malawi Partnership, and my new challenge. Happy to see you over there!

Best wishes

Stuart

----------

I’m taking part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk this year for the Scotland Malawi Partnership (SMP), and I’d love any support that you feel able to give. I spent 4 years volunteering for the SMP and the past 8 years working with and for them.

Many people in Malawi face multiple poverty-induced challenges in their daily lives including accessing education, healthcare, justice and employment opportunities, clean water, protection from infectious disease, recovery from extreme climate events and their impact on a subsistence agricultural economy.

With interlinked issues on so many fronts, a joined-up rather than siloed approach is needed. The SMP works to connect the many schools, universities, churches, charities and community groups throughout Scotland that have people-to-people links with Malawi. We help map who is doing what, where and with whom in Malawi, and encourage the sharing of lessons learned, encouraging greater efficiencies through collaboration and reducing duplication of effort.

The kiltwalks are part of a range of initiatives to help raise funds that keep these vital links strong — supporting education, collaboration and sustainable development. For those who believe in global citizenship, it's also about standing in solidarity and celebrating a relationship that is today founded in friendship, values and mutual respect.

Recognising that everyone has multiple commitments, if you would like to support the SMP, I’d be most grateful.

Thank you!

Stuart
