Story
Zipslide the Clyde for Team Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus (SBH) Scotland is back!!! On Friday the 22nd of August 2025 I will take part in a 150ft adrenaline adventure, launching off from a crane next to the stunning Glasgow Riverside Museum and (hopefully safely) on the other side of the River Clyde.
Why am I doing this? Well, every year, SBH Scotland strives to raise over £1,000,000 to provide essential support services for children, young people, and adults living with lifelong and complex conditions. With limited statutory funding available, they depend almost entirely on the generosity of individuals. All money raised will go directly towards ensuring that everyone with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus in Scotland is supported and that their individual needs are met in order to allow them to live the highest quality of live possible.
On a more personal level, its for the little dude in my photos: Andrew Carr. Andrew is the son of my best friend, Sean, and I am priviledged to be known to him as Uncle Stuart. Andrew is 8 years old and he uses a full leg splint to support his walking and he also uses a wheelchair to get around. However, he doesn't let those things define him. He is a wonderfully bright, cheerful and kind little guy who, like all kids his age, isn't above a little bit of mischief either.
Since his parents learned about his condition at their 20 week scan SBH Scotland has been right there to provide support, friendship and charity. I've seen how Andrew and his whole family have benefitted and all of the hard work they have done to support the charity in kind. It truly is a wonderful community. So, this year I thought I had better do my part to pay a little back too.
Please donate whatever you can as a little money I can vouch from first hand experience that it really will go a long way!
