Story
I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in June 2023, and now well on the road to recovery. Admitted into Christies Cancer Hospital in October 2023 where I underwent surgery to remove my cancer.
I lead a pretty average life. I exercise, eat healthy, enjoy the company of my family and friends and I live for being out on the road on two wheels.
One never expects to be diagnosed with cancer. There is no history of cancer in my family. I had limited experience of cancer and slightly ignorant of people plight. It always seemed to be something that happened to other people.
Looking back over 2022/23, the symptoms were so evident, but I believed them to be something that one gets as you enter your fifties. Nothing to worry about. When I was told I had cancer on the 18th June 2023, it was a real shock, and took a while to sink in, but I was determined not to let the experience shape me in a negative manner.
For me, it's all about raising awareness and catching the cancer early.
The concerning thing is, a simple blood test can let you know if you have the possibility of developing prostate cancer. It takes less than 15 minutes for a simple blood test that is saving mens lives.
The real shock for me was losing a good friend, early this year, to Prostate Cancer. Alastair was diagnosed at the same time as myself, but did not survive.

I will be setting out on my fund raising trip across Australia, riding solo from Melbourne to Adelaide along the Great Ocean Road, then following the road from Adelaide to Perth, across the notorious Nullarbor Plain.
Riding a total of 4885 kilometres, raising awareness of Prostate Cancer.
Every penny / cent that I raise will go straight to Christie Charity to support the great work they do in research and development, and in assisting those diagnosed with cancer.
