Story
So those of you that know me well will remember I ran the Oxford Half in October 23 raising over £1200 for Diff Strokes (DS) due to your generosity. This time I am going to run a different Half marathon and try and raise at least the same amount of money- why? Because I am mad! I am also running for the fellow stroke survivors who are unable to run.
No, seriously after suffering a major stroke in 1997, and a more minor stroke in 2021, I relied heavily on DS for sharing information and experiences of stroke. One thing I realised is that I am very lucky to be able to run, even at the age of 58- many stroke survivors can’t- I am also running for them. I will also train to beat my previous best time and go under the 2 hour mark. In reality I will just try and finish in one piece, unlike last time! 😆
I wasn’t able to get a full marathon place so DS offered me a place they had in the London Landmarks HM.
Different Strokes(DS) is a small national charity supporting working age and younger stroke survivors. They work to support thousands of families impacted by stroke every year. The majority of staff and trustees are stroke survivors themselves or have a close personal connection to stroke.
The services they provide enable younger stroke survivors to reclaim their lives through active peer support.
