Story
I’ve signed up to do a run for St Richard’s Hospice Worcester and wondered if you'd be able to donate something.
They looked after David’s Dad, John, in his final days and were incredible. The photo above is of John on a horse at the age of 81, the first time he'd ridden a horse (I've cropped the photo so you can't see the horse's expression).
Being at St Richard's meant that John could die peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him. Phyllis, Jo and David will always be so grateful to everyone at St Richard's for all their support and care.
John passed away 13 years ago now, but the family still miss him every day.
St Richard’s is run entirely by donations, and costs £10.2m every year. We’ve got to know the team really well over the years and they are fantastic - caring, smart, great fun and completely focussed on giving the best care for patients and their families at really difficult, upsetting times.
If you can give something, that’d be brilliant, but I know times are hard for everyone. If you’re in London on the morning of Sunday 1st September between Tower Bridge and Cutty Sark please cheer me on / take the mick. It’s a Half Marathon and I might dress up, maybe as a penguin - I haven’t worked that bit out yet (St Richard's fundraising has a penguin theme this year, that's not me being weird).
David will be away with work so every step will be 50% less fun. X
