Story
Some of you maybe aware of my back story, having a major life threatening brain injury 40 years ago, when I was 15, which left me paralysed in my right side. Then the challenge was to learn to walk, talk and write again, and tying a show lace with one hand.
I have come along way since those dark days, I would not have achieved this without the support of my friends and family, but the journey has been relentless and difficult at times. This maybe a surprise to those who know me well, as my positivity is a good disguise to overcome the reasons "why me".
I am also conscious that this has given me a great insight into the basic issues of adapting to a disability, but also the increased awareness of how difficult life is for the disabled and the less fortunate. As well as the encouragement to overcome a challenge, and not to give up, despite whatever life throws at you.
This is the reason why I support CIAO, "Challenge Is An Opportunity".
I will be doing a trek of the Bossington Trails in Exmoor, as part of the CiaO's Summer Challenge. I will be joining my friends, colleagues, the Ciao Team and many others on the 30th July, for a special CiaO event, as we all take on the trails around this beautiful National Trust Area.
This Summer Challenge will be trying to raise funds for some great causes, boosting Mental Health and Physical Well-being.
It would really be appreciated to assist by receiving any donations, to encourage my efforts for this event.
Thank you for any donation you can give in supporting me and CiaO !
