Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page supporting the MND Association.
This is going to be my fundraiser awareness post for my challenge
24-Hour Pool Marathon for MND
On Friday 17th July at 6pm, I’ll begin a 24-hour pool marathon, finishing at 9pm on Saturday 18th July, in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
This challenge is deeply personal to me and is being done in support of someone who has truly changed how I see life.
I chose MND as the charity for this event because a close friend of mine, Craig, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease just over a year ago, after experiencing symptoms for almost two years. Craig is a truly remarkable man. Despite receiving a diagnosis that has no cure, he has faced it head-on with strength, positivity, and determination.
Craig lives life to the full and continues to raise awareness and funds for MND himself. Watching the way he has embraced life since his diagnosis has been a huge inspiration to me. He has shown me that life should be lived for today, because none of us know what challenges tomorrow might bring. This event is my way of doing something meaningful for him, and for everyone affected by MND.
I chose a pool marathon because over the years, Craig and I have spent countless hours playing both golf and pool together. Although Craig stepped away from pool around six years ago, this year he made a return to join our team and play league pool with us again — which made this challenge feel even more fitting. It had to be golf or pool, and a 24-hour pool marathon felt like the right tribute.
This will be a huge challenge, both physically and mentally. If I’m honest, the physical side — the fatigue, the lack of sleep — will be tough. But when I think about the mental strength Craig shows every single day, and the positive attitude he brings to his own battle, it puts my challenge into perspective. If he can keep fighting with such strength, then I can push through 24 hours.
How the Challenge Will Work:
*I will play pool continuously over the 24-hour period
*Players can come along for half-hour or hour slots
*To play, participants will donate £10 per hour to the charity
*For every frame I win, the opponent will donate an additional £1 to the charity pot
*Every game played helps raise vital funds and awareness.
There is no donation too small. Every single pound makes a difference in the fight against MND and in supporting those living with this devastating disease.
If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this page or talking about the challenge helps raise awareness — and that’s just as important.
Craig’s message is simple and powerful:
Keep fighting. Stay strong. Together, one day we will win the fight.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for any support you can give — whether that’s donating, playing, sharing, or cheering from the sidelines. It truly means more than you know. 💙
