The Fan Dance Race My 2026 Challenge for Cancer Research
In June 2026, I’ll be taking on one of the toughest endurance challenges in the UK The Fan Dance Race, run by The Special Forces Experience.
This brutal event is a 14-mile race across the Brecon Beacons, following the original Special Forces selection route. It’s the same trail that tests the fittest and most determined soldiers in the world.
The course takes you up and over Pen y Fan — the highest peak in South Wales twice, tackling the infamous Roman Road and the relentless climb of Jacob’s Ladder. The terrain is harsh, the weather unpredictable, and the distance punishing. It’s a true test of endurance, grit, and mental strength.
But I’m not doing this for glory.
I’m doing it to raise money for Cancer Research UK, in honour of those close to me who have faced and continue to face this devastating disease.
Cancer has affected far too many people in my life, and this challenge is my way of fighting back.
Now, I’ll be honest I’m not a natural runner. I’m heavy, built for hiking, not for racing across mountains under Special Forces conditions. But that’s exactly why I’m doing it. To push myself well beyond my comfort zone, to suffer a little for those who’ve had to endure so much more.
Every step, every climb, and every blister will be worth it if it helps raise awareness and funds for vital cancer research.
Please consider donating to support Cancer Research UK your contribution, no matter how small, will make a real difference.
