Story
Hi all.
I'm running the 2025 Great North Run for Special Effect. Their Bubble Busters project puts robots (with cameras and microphones) into a child's seat in the classroom so that they can take part in lessons from their home or even their hospital bed.
Special Effect is our charity of the year at Bowness School.
Every few quid helps to provide an education for a child who is unable to attend school.
From Special Effect:
Nobody likes being left out, that’s why UK-based charity SpecialEffect put fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities, by helping them to play video games.
By using technology ranging from modified games controllers to eye-control, they’re finding a way for people of all ages to play to the very best of their abilities. There's no one-size-fits-all way of doing it, so their specialist assessment teams match or modify technology to create and loan truly personalised gaming control setups, and back this up with lifelong follow-up support, completely free of charge.
I will be running the Great North Run on Sunday 7 September 2025 as a part of team SpecialEffect and will be fundraising for them to help with their mission of levelling the playing field for people with physical disabilities. Thank you for your support!
