Malawi 500km Pedal Power challenge 2026 · 29 April 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

500km cycle experience around stunning southern Malawi fundraising for projects with Love Support Unite and Gold-Youth Development Agency (who have taken over African Vision Malawi). You will see the projects first hand at the end of the cycle ride.

Story

After seeing for ourselves two years ago the amazing work of African Vision Malawi, we are heading there again this April! This time to take part in Pedal Power 2026, another 500km cycle through the southern part of the country.

You may recall that their projects focus on training people so they can support themselves and their communities. We've seen how life changing this can be. Tailors trained at the centre working away on donated singer sewing machines. Communities benefitting from better self-sufficient food production after learning about permaculture. The wonderful work of their maternity care units and the support they give to education from pre-school to student sponsorship, just some examples of the important areas they support.

Many of you were amazingly generous the last time we did this. We hope you don’t mind us asking again. Your donation will go entirely to AVM and their new partners, so anything you can contribute will be massively appreciated. Thank you!

About the charities

AVM is transitioning its work and partnerships to the Gold Youth Development Foundation and Love Support Unite who together will ensure that AVM’s 20-year legacy continues to flourish. Known as the warm heart of Africa, Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. Some 85% of the population are subsistence farmers. AVM’s programmes aim to see people become self-sufficient by providing vocational and life skills training. The new partnership builds on two decades of social and relational capital to ensure long-term sustainability, wider reach, and deeper outcomes in social behaviour change, education, and job creation for young and vulnerable people in Malawi and beyond.
