Story
We met the children and “Aunties” at the foundation and gave them books, games, crafting materials, sports equipment and raincoats. We spent a wonderful evening getting to know these wonderful people. Thank you to all who donated on this page or the gifts we took. It will all be carefully used and reused by the children.
We want to give something back to the local community whilst we are in Tanzania and found this wonderful local charity who need help. We will be visiting them, meeting the children and taking them out a range of books, craft and sports materials. You can find more information on their website http://www.ujamaachildren.com/ but there is a taster below.
It will make the last few days, as we struggle with the high altitude, easier to know we are making a difference to the lives of some local children who have not been as fortunate in their family lives as we have.
The charity was founded by an Australian and collect in AUD$, although they are a UK registered charity, your credit card will normally cope with this we can't change it. The exchange rate is £1 = AUD $2
Thank you
Ujamaa Children’s Home isn’t just an orphanage; it’s a home. We raise our children in a family environment where they live together as brothers and sisters and this bond will remain for the rest of their lives. We provide the highest level of care and education and we do this by maintaining small numbers and a close-knit family. We give our kids the chance to live happy and fulfilled lives as adults by changing the cycle of poverty and raising kids to be confident and successful.
