Story
On April 26th I will be running the London Marathon in memory of my amazing mum, who sadly passed away in 2024 from bile duct cancer — a rare, aggressive cancer that is extremely difficult to diagnose. She passed away just ten weeks after her diagnosis.
My brave mum chose to spend her final days at home, surrounded by her family. This was only possible thanks to the incredible care provided by St Barnabas Hospice at Home. The love, compassion, and time they gave to my mum still brings a tear to my eye when I think about it. She was comfortable, cared for, and at peace in her last days — and that is the greatest gift anyone could give.
I will run every step of the marathon with my mum in my heart. I can already hear her asking why on earth I’d want to put myself through this, telling me I’m daft and surely getting too old for this sort of thing 🤣 — but I know, deep down, she would be incredibly proud of me.
I’m running the London Marathon to raise funds for St Barnabas, so they can continue supporting people in our local community living with life-limiting illnesses, and their loved ones, to live as fully and comfortably as possible for the time they have together. I know many people locally have a personal connection to St Barnabas, so I’m hoping you’ll consider supporting them by sponsoring me.
The last 18 months have been incredibly tough as I’ve grieved and learned to live without my rock.
Running has been a way of healing, remembering my mum and hopefully continuing to make her proud.
I’m honoured to run this marathon in her memory, and grateful for any support along the way
Thank you ❤️
