Story
I said I’d never do it again but…
Earlier this year mum went into care. I could’nt keep her safe anymore. North Yorkshire Police rang me just before Christmas to say ‘we’ve got your mum’. She couldn’t remember where she lived.
The monitoring system I had installed showed me she spent most of the night pottering round the house. Sometimes she would ring at 3am confused and feeling vulnerable - the front door was unlocked and I’d head round.
I don’t want anyone to experience this emotional roller coaster. Like the TV advert says, it’s like watching her die again and again and again. That’s why I’m walking another 26 miles for Alzheimer’s Society.
There’s not much I can do for mum now but walking to raise money will help those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
Thank you x
