Newsflash!
I did it! ⛰️🙌
Took just under 12 long hours but the weather was perfect & my supportive friends helped get me through the tough parts - of which there were many.
Have a read of the poem (in the update) sent to me by a friend the night before - when I was severely doubting myself.
Meanwhile here’s the background…
During lockdown, I stairclimbed the equivalent of Ben Nevis - it took me 30 days!
I raised £881 for Barnados.
Challenged by someone to now do it for real (my Mum having lived in the foothills & once climbed the mountain in her school uniform to find her dog - which she did) so could it be so difficult?
A reminder to myself as my day job sees me support business & people to realise their possibilities and mentor people to set Bold goals (& sometimes Awesome & Ridiculous ones), so I am challenging my body (and now I realise my mind too) to achieve this.
No mean feat as I don’t hike or even walk, I’m overweight and my body objects when I do the training hikes.
But life is about stepping out of comfort zones, challenging ourselves and not only will this be an achievement of a lifetime, I want to inspire others to have a go with their equivalent of their own Ben Nevis adventure.
Beyond my own challenge, I want to use this time to make a difference for others. As a family who have experienced Dementia first hand, it is heart breaking. Research and support make a real & positive impact.
I hope my steps help Alzheimer’s Society who are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
