Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2023 · 17 September 2023 ·

We raise funds mainly through a monthly Pop Up shop called 'Sukie's Scones' in Selkirk, Scottish Borders. We use the funds to feed children in school where we also run a sewing school. We have just opened a new rural school for 50 children who we are also feeding with 2 teachers.

Story

Together with friends and family I am doing another Kiltwalk to raise funds to continue our work in Zambia feeding and educating over 1000 children in 4 rural schools.

In 2021 and 2022 thanks to the Kiltwalk, we built 2 of these schools starting with a hand operated water pump so the whole community now has fresh clean and free water and opened a third that had been partially built. We fund 4 teachers, our 2 helpers Louis and Christine and Pastor Abraham. By giving the locals 3 business a chicken farm, roadside stall with sewing machines and just recently a Hummer mill and peanut butter making machines we are trying to make the projects sustainable, so we can move on to build another school near Livingstone.

I am hoping to get back to Zambia in May 2024 to teach the women again to hand sew washable sanitary pads and knit babies jumpers.

Many thanks for help and support without it none of this would be possible.
