I’m Summer and I’m 18 years old. I currently work as a support worker, supporting adults with special needs. I have a passion for community work and making a difference in peoples lives.

In April 2025, I’m going to Zambia with a team from my church where we will be supporting the charity Hands At Work. This charity helps to support some of the poorest and most vulnerable communities in Africa.

This is a trip I have wanted to do for so long and now I am finally able to. In order to fundraise towards this, from the 10th January at 8pm until Sunday the 12th January at 8am, I will be doing a 36 hour fast where I will only be drinking water. I had this idea for a fundraiser because I wanted to do something that will relate to what I will be doing. Unfortunately, according to British Red Cross there are over 140 million people in Africa alone, facing hunger. Doing the fast will help me to imagine just a small portion of what some people around the world have to face every day.
