Supporting #TeamSunshine – In Honour of Owen and "Duck Duck Goose".

We (Daryl & Suni) will be taking on various fundraising challenges in the coming months, culminating at the *London Marathon 2026* as part of the #TeamSunshine group of runners!

🌞 🌞 Hi everyone. Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

Being able to join #TeamSunshine in support of the amazing Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity, is a cause very close to our hearts. We first became aware of Rays of Sunshine when our son Owen was in hospital (more than we would have liked) as a young child, spending time at Evelina Children's Hospital, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital and others. During a very difficult period for our family, Rays of Sunshine brought light, laughter, and a welcome break from the stress and uncertainty of hospital life.

Rays of Sunshine do amazing work with seriously and terminally ill children, often granting them a magical wish.

One special day with Rays of Sunshine that we'll never forget was when they helped Owen – only 3 at the time – make his very own teddy. He proudly named him "Duck Duck Goose", and the joy that moment brought is something we still treasure today. 💛

We’ve included a video from that day below, and a photo in the gallery of Owen now, at age eight, still with his beloved teddy (and Guitar) by his side. It’s a beautiful reminder of how a small act of kindness can have a lasting impact. Owen spent time with Rays of Sunshine at other times during his hospital visits, and they always brought some fun & happiness to otherwise challenging days. For someone like Owen, it brought happiness during a sad time, but for terminally ill children, it can bring life-changing moments of joy.

Why Rays of Sunshine Matters

Rays of Sunshine exists to fulfil the wishes of seriously ill children across the UK, and to brighten their lives and those of their families. Whether it’s granting a magical wish, providing specialist equipment, or supporting the hospitals and hospices that care for these children, the charity creates moments of joy, connection, and hope — often when families need it most.
