Team: TJ & Sunmisade’s Tough Mudder for The Sickle Cell Society
Story
In 2017, we took on a 5k Tough Mudder together, testing our fitness and pushing ourselves to new limits. What began as a fun challenge quickly turned into a shared commitment to tackling bigger physical and personal obstacles. Fast forward to May 2025, and we are ready to take on the next challenge– the 15K Tough Mudder. A 15km obstacle course that involves 20+ obstacles through muddy terrain, water features, and scaling heights.
But this isn’t just a physical test. This time, we’re running with a purpose – to raise vital funds and awareness for The Sickle Cell Society.
Sickle Cell Disease is a devastating condition that disproportionately affects people from African & Caribbean communities. It causes immense pain, lifelong challenges, and tragically, early deaths for those affected. Yet, despite the urgent need, Sickle Cell disease remains largely underfunded and underrecognized, leaving countless patients with limited resources to manage their condition.
This challenge is more than just about running through mud and obstacles. It’s our way to stand with those who face daily battles that most of us can’t even imagine. With every step we take, our goal is to raise much-needed funds for The Sickle Cell Society, a charity dedicated to providing support, raising awareness, and driving change in the way Sickle Cell patients are treated in the UK.
