Yvonne and Eric have decided to run the Scottish Half Marathon on Sunday, 24th September 2023 for Sunrise Africa Relief, a Scottish based charity, founded by Eric’s parents, which aims to alleviate poverty in the poorest areas in Africa.

Over the last few years, the charity has helped to install grinding mills in Sandwe village in the Eastern Province of Zambia, support the medical centre in the nearby Makale village and conduct a washable sanitary pad project through different incredible fundraising challenges.

Our fundraising effort this year will specifically be used to help build a delivery room/labour ward at the Makale village clinic where currently women in labour have to wait outside in the scorching heat or torrential rain until space is available for them to deliver their baby inside.

With the help of your support an additional maternity room will be built allowing them to have some basic privacy and comfort during this crucial time.
