Paul's fundraiser for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust

10 y Fan 2025 · 10 May 2025 to 11 May 2025 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of my son, Alfie.
On Saturday the 10th of May 2025, I will take part in the Sunrise Trek in aid of the amazing Acorns Children's Hospice, across the Brecon Beacons and to the summit of Pen y Fan.
Acorns were a lifeline to our beautiful son, Alfie, who had respite care at Selly Oak for over 8 years. He was very well loved at Acorns and he became a very popular visitor amongst the wonderful staff who took such great care of him.
Like many families who rely on this very special place, their love, care and devotion meant that we had short breaks away from the 24 hour care that Alfie was reliant on. We cannot thank Acorns, Selly Oak enough for how they helped Alfie and us as a family for many years.
On the 26th November 2023, after a brief illness, Alfie was transferred from PICU at Birmingham Children's Hospital to Acorns in Selly Oak, where he received end of life care. Alfie passed away peacefully at 22:46pm that same night, surrounded by his loving family.
On the 10th May 2025, I will take part in the Sunrise Trek to the summit of Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons to remember Alfie, and help continue to support the amazing work that Acorns Children's Hospice give to hundreds of families of children with life-limiting illnesses.
Pen y Fan is a very special place for me. I have climbed to the summit on many occasions, and in May 2024, I scattered some of Alfie's ashes on the summit of this wonderful place. It will be an honour to climb once again to Remember Alfie and help Acorns Children's Hospice.
Thank you all for your generosity. Your donation really does make a huge difference to lives of children, like Alfie, and families like ours used to be.
With all our love.
Paul, Vickie, Finlay, Megan and our beautiful shining star, Alfie xxxxx
