Meet Shaluwa: a 15-year-old student in Uganda who dreams of becoming an auto engineer and giving back to his community. Despite financial challenges, he's stayed focused and disciplined in his education, because he believes learning is the foundation for everything he hopes to achieve.

Shaluwa needs support to stay in school. A donation goes directly toward his school fees, learning materials, and the opportunity to keep pursuing his goals.

Around the world, 750 million adults worldwide cannot read or write, and 70% of 10-year-olds in low- and middle-income countries can't read a simple text. Behind every one of those numbers is a real child, like Shaluwa, who deserves the chance to learn and thrive. Literacy opens doors to independence, opportunity, and dignity, the ability to read a medicine label, fill out a job application, or simply follow a school lesson.

This fundraiser is part of the World Literacy Foundation's Youth Ambassador Program, a global initiative connecting young people in over 60 countries who are working to expand access to education.

The goal is $350, the amount needed to give Shaluwa a full year of support. Every dollar brings him closer to the classroom, and closer to becoming the engineer he's dreamed of being.
