Respite at Home Volunteers West Mid Beds and Ivel Valley (RHV) provide a free befriending and support service to families living with life limiting illnesses such as final stage cancer, stroke and heart failure, lung disease, Parkinsons, dementia, MND, Multiple Sclerosis and Huntington's Disease. Carers often experience a role which is non stop 24/7 with little or no other support. And we know that our respite service which allows carers some time off each week helps to keep people healthy and away from the overburdened health services. RHV is the only free support service of its kind and is available to both, people living with a disease and their carers in the West Mid Beds and Ivel Valley area in Central Bedfordshire and covers both urban and rural areas.

Sadly we have receive no regular funding from any other service and rely purely on donations and fundraising keep our valued service going. We have run our service for over 25 years, working with hundreds of families. Many families have described our service and volunteers as “a lifeline”, “the highlight of my week” and even “a gift from heaven".
