I'm supporting Age UK Wakefield District's Befriending programme. Each year close to 1 million older people report feeling lonely but Age UK Wakefield District are working to reduce these numbers and bring friendship and joy into the lives of over 50's living in the Wakefield area.

Befriending matches volunteers with isolated, older people to create fantastic relationships because they understand the power of a good chat, emotional support and regular contact.

By sponsoring me, Age UK Wakefield District can recruit and train more volunteers to make a real difference in our community.

I work for Age UK Befriending Services and it's a brilliant and rewarding job. I see the loneliness and isolation. I see people blossom when they are matched with a lovely Volunteer and real friendships are formed.

I am aiming to walk 10k in 3 hours to improve my personal fitness having lost 3 stone recently.
