Story
Dear All,
I'm yet again undertaking a Spanish camino. This time I am walking the Camino Ingles (English Way) from Ferrol to Santiago de Compostela, Spain and then onto Finisterre (the end of the earth). I expect to walk roughly 200 miles over 12 days. As always, I'll be carrying everything on my back and staying in simple hostels and pilgrim lodgings.
Historically, the English Way was most commonly trod by medieval pilgrims from Scandinavia or other areas of Northern Europe. They'd reach the port of Ferrol by ship and then walk south to the great cathedral in Santiago. This route is well over a thousand years old and during times of conflict in Northern Europe was one of the most popular pilgrim routes. Now, however, the Camino Ingles is one of the quieter ones - good for contemplation and solitude as befits a modern pilgrim.
Once I complete the Ingles, I'll then be off to the Atlantic to the end of the earth via Muxia and Finisterre. If I'm brave enough, I may even contemplate a dip in the Atlantic.
As ever, I'm raising money for our lovely little Arkesden church to help keep the roof on, the inside warm, and the daffodils blooming. Grateful for any contribution you might make to maintaining our little village church.
