Step challenge to fundraise for a defibrillator · 28 May 2025

The 29th Glasgow Scout Group currently consists of seven sections; two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs, two Scout Troops and an Explorer Sea Scout Unit – all offering a wide variety of activities to our members; from climbing to canoeing; hill walking to sailing and much more.

Story

I am raising funds for the 29th Glasgow (1st Newlands) Scout Group by participating in a personal walk, aiming to cover a total of 175,000 steps. This number represents the staggering amount of individuals who lose their lives each year in the UK due to heart and circulatory diseases.

After attending a recent first aid course, I learned of the critical importance of having immediate access to life-saving equipment, such as a defibrillator. This experience has motivated me to help ensure that our Scout group and the wider community are better prepared in emergencies.

My goal is to raise a large part of the £1800 needed to purchase a defibrillator that will be installed outside our hall, making it accessible not only for Scouts but also for everyone in our local area. Any donations will make a significant difference and help save lives. Thank you for your support, Andrew
