The Macular Society is the only charity determined to beat the fear and isolation of macular disease with world class research, and the best advice and support. Medical research will lead us to the cure we need to beat macular disease for the next generation.

Story

As many of you know, the Macular Society is a cause close to my heart and the charity that I choose every year to raise money for by completing the Great North Run. Once again, this year I will run in memory of our lovely Dad who we lost in June 2023. Dad's world shrank over his later years as Macular Disease and COPD limited his ability to engage in the activities that were important to him. By raising money for the Macular Society to continue vital research I hope that in the future this won't be the outcome for others.

If you are not familiar with Macular Disease, please watch this short video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfGlf_jlWeI and then imagine how your daily occupations (activities to the non-Occupational Therapist’s out there!) would be impacted. It’s a sobering thought.

Any small amount of sponsorship will be very gratefully accepted. All charities are currently struggling due to the cost of living crisis, and this is amplified for the smaller organisations such as the Macular Society. If you can spare the cost of a pint or a latte, I would be very grateful.
