Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you are aware, I lost my Mum, Liz to cancer in February 2023.Her fight was very short and Hospice@Home were amazing in nursing for Mum at home.
13 months later Gordie was diagnosed with cancer and whilst initially the prognosis was looking good, several bouts of sepsis resulted in treatment not being possible. He was determined not to let this define him and jumped out of a plane with Emily and Adam from 15000ft several months before he lost his fight.Spending the last few days in St Leonards Hospice was the most peaceful time we had experienced for months. No longer needing to be his carer I could go back to being his wife, soul mate and best friend.Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were so amazing.Caring for all of us and making sure the last few days were dignified and as pain free as possible. All of them guardian angels. As a family we will be eternally grateful.
The Hospice is a charity and relies on donations. We are so lucky to have St Leonards in York
naturally the last few years have been really traumatic.During this time, self care has been hard and my general levels of fitness and healthy choices have not been great.
This Challenge will give me a real focus to do more than my current 500 - 1000 steps a day, knowing every step will make a difference, mot just to my health, but those needing the hospice in the future.
