We’re Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future. By 2050, we believe everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well. But we need to act now.

Story

Our crazy cyclists are at it again, only this year they're taking on the epic challenge of cycling 1000 miles in 10 days across our DS Smith and International Paper sites in the UK, France and Belgium, to raise money, well... for me!

As you know, earlier this year, after 6 years clear, I received the devastating news that my breast cancer had returned, having spread to the bones in my shoulder, neck, ribs and spine and to my liver. To say we were floored as a family is an understatement, but over the last few months we all rallied, and having just completed my 6th cycle of chemotherapy, I am very hopeful of a path forward in living for a very long time with this unwelcome disease.

Supporting our cyclists for the last 2 years in their 500-mile cycling escapades driving the support van, sorting lunches, making drinks, supplying snacks.... effectively being "Mum"... when the team asked me to do it again, I was initially worried my health wouldn't allow me to be a part of the team. But where there's a will, there's a way, and now with my trusty side-kick, Jason Donnoloia, we'll be sharing the driving, and play-list management, over the upcoming 10-day adventure.

What we're doing

D S Smith's 'South Cluster Cycling Team' (comprising of Sue Saunders, David Edwards, Gary Cowling, Ben Langdon, Wayne Kew & Jason Donnaloia) are embarking on our most ambitious challenge yet - 'The Power of 10'. Setting off from Devizes on 13th September 2025, we aim to visit 10 of our sites across the UK, France, and Belgium, cycling an incredible 1,000 miles in just 10 days!

Why we're doing it

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the world. Over 55,000 people are diagnosed every year in the UK alone. Each one will face challenging treatment regimes. Gruelling side effects. Uncertainty, anxiety and fear.

Breast Cancer Now's vision is that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well, but to make that happen, they need our support!

We invite you to join us in making a difference. Our collective target is to raise £12,000 for 'Breast Cancer Now', and your generous contributions will help us reach this goal.
