Story
In November 2008, my son who was almost two years old was taken to the Countess of Chester extremely poorly. He was treated with urgency by the doctors and nurses and then transferred to Alderhey Children's hospital to be operated on for a ruptured appendix. The quick actions of the Countess saved his life, for this I will always be eternally grateful.
Also my niece was born very prematurely at the Countess and is now a thriving seven year old. As a family we have a lot to be grateful for.
My daughter in law is devoted to working within the Children's department at the Countess, so all in all we want to repay them wherever we can for the great job they continue to do.
My daughter, daughter in law, sister, sister in law and nieces will be completing the Santa Dash on the 7th December 2025, we can't wait for this day of celebration. Any donations would be greatly received for our cause. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you all.
Hospice of the Good Shepherd provides its services free of charge to its patients and costs £5.6 million to run each year with just 17% of the funding received coming from statutory sources. The remaining 83% is raised from a range of fundraising activities and the support of the generous local community in Cheshire.
The Countess Charity is the official charity at The Countess of Chester Hospital. The team works with the local community, corporates and grant making trusts to raise money for over 80 different funds across the hospital each one making a real difference to patient care. The Countess Charity exists not to fund patient care, but to enhance and improve it.
