I am doing all this to prove to myself and all of you, that anything is possible! I have chosen to raise money and awareness for Heart Research UK - a small heart charity based in Leeds. They are a wonderful team (full of strong women) and they do such important work.
It was in the news recently that Roger Black (olympic athlete and total legend) had open heart surgery as he has the same heart valve issue as me. He was able to win medals and break records and is such an inspiration to me.
I have congenital heart valve disease and I'm very lucky it was picked up when I was in my 20s but not everyone is so fortunate. Heart Research UK is a charity close to my heart (deliberate pun). Approximately 1% of the population has the valve issue I have but a very small percent of those are aware of it.
I would appreciate any donations to help continue HRUK's vital work.
After 4 years of trying, I am finally able to run the London Marathon in April 2025 and have signed up for both days off Race to the Stones, double the distance I ran last year - 100k (just over 62 miles) and a few other challenges.
In August 2024 I ran around a 5k loop in Leeds six times (before picking up an injury), in October I ran a trail marathon from Bristol to Bath. Do you think I might like running?!
