Story
Why I am fundraising
This January, I am walking 50km to mark 50 years of Hopian, and to keep services going that make a difference every day in our Rotherham Community. As Hopian’s CEO, I see firsthand how adults, children and families affected by domestic abuse and child sexual exploitation, move from fear to safety and hope when the right support is there.
Domestic abuse is not the hidden issue we believe it is; it affects us all. We may have experienced it ourselves, or know someone who has: a friend, a colleague, a neighbour, a family member. The truth is, we all know someone impacted by domestic abuse, even if we do not talk about it.
That is why we must make it our business to break the silence. Domestic abuse thrives in secrecy, and silence leaves people isolated. By speaking openly, challenging stigma, and ensuring those affected have access to the right support, we can change lives.
At Hopian, we see every day how vital that support is, safe accommodation, advice, support, counselling, and community programmes that help people rebuild their lives. Your donation helps keep these services available for anyone who needs them.
What your donation makes possible
Every pound you give helps sustains Hopian’s services: confidential advice and support, children and family services, refuge accommodation, counselling, training and community programmes in Rotherham.
Our 2026 goal: “50 for Hope”
This is Hopian’s “50 for Hope” year. Together, we aim to raise £50,000 to protect and grow these our services. Please donate if you can, share this page, or join me in your own Walk, Run, Swim or Ride 50K challenge.
Thank you, for helping mark 50 years of history into continued safety and hope.
