Story
Hi friends,
For over three decades, as a singer of Brazilian music in Austin, I have had the honor of sharing the stage with numerous jazz musicians, whose ability to improvise and to make beauty in the moment have made performing an act of joy for me. These musicians have been my friends, my colleagues, and my teachers.
I am now a member of the board of directors of the Austin Jazz Workshop (AJW), a nonprofit that has brought live jazz performances and teaching to elementary schools throughout Central Texas for 30 years. The program currently serves 111 public schools.
In addition, AJW provides opportunities for budding middle school and high school jazz musicians to hone their skills by performing with seasoned players through its free Youth Jam program.
As a nonprofit, AJW relies on a variety of fundraising sources. This year, I hope to raise $500 or more for AJW on or before Giving Tuesday, November 28. I hope you will consider making a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation to support this wonderful project. Thank you!
