Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I’m swimming the Serpentine six-mile challenge for Pollinating London Together. As many of you know, I love bees, butterflies, moths and other pollinators. But pollinators need our help. Increasing urbanisation has led to a huge decline in pollinating insect populations across the UK. And if pollinators go - we’re all in trouble.
Pollinating London Together works to increase green space, pollinator habitats and pollen plants in urban areas, and they’re producing a blueprint that can be used in other cities to support pollinating insects across the UK. They’re a tiny charity, so every donation really helps pollinators, which ultimately helps us all.
You may know I love swimming, but this is a real challenge for me. The six-mile distance is equivalent to 386 lengths of a normal pool, and I expect to be in the water for 4.5 to 5 hours. The temperature is also colder than I’m used to, at around 17 degrees. It will not be a walk (or a swim) in the park. Thanks for reading this far, and if you are able to support then please do!
