Michael’s brother Brian's son, David, was diagnosed at 10 months old with the genetic disease Tay Sachs. It mainly affects Jewish children and is always fatal.
It blocks the nervous system and leads to a gradual and irreversible deterioration of all abilities.
David died, deaf, blind and unable to control any movement or speech, just two months short of his 4th birthday, ending the nightmare that is Tay Sachs.
The charity Jnetics initially helped to reduce the number of Tay Sachs births, then it developed its role to include 48 other Jewish genetic diseases and, finally, included helping significantly diminish the number of Jewish women suffering BRCA, breast cancer of genetic origin.
Jnetics requires funding to deliver its recessive genetic testing and the BRCA engagement campaign, in order to meet its objectives for the community.
Investment into Jnetics improves the prevention and diagnosis of Jewish genetic disorders in the UK, ensuring a healthier future for British Jewry.
Michael: “David would be 36 years old now and I remember him and pray for him every single day of my life; he was the only angel I have ever encountered. He never spoke, he never heard, and he never sinned. He was a truly innocent soul and he must never, ever be forgotten.”
Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
