Story
On Saturday 4 April, I will be taking on my very own backyard ultra (6.7km on the hour, every hour) in an attempt to run 100km to raise money and awareness for Nacoa.
Nacoa (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics) was founded in 1990 to address the needs of children affected by a parent’s drinking or similar addictive problem. This includes children of all ages, many of whose problems only become apparent in adulthood.
The reason for choosing Nacoa is not personal to me but to my partner. Craig’s mum battled with alcohol and we both believe in the charity’s purpose to support those affected by a parent drinking and the problems it can bring.
Save the date to come along and support
When: Saturday 4 April
Start time: 8am
Where: Craig Hall Studio
I would welcome as much support as possible throughout the day and night (I’m going to need it!), so if you are free then do come along, it makes such a difference seeing familiar faces cheer you on. Gluten free snacks are of course welcome!
If anyone wants to run some laps with me, that would also be a great support. For an idea on pacing to run with me, I will be running at roughly a 6:30/km pace and walking some parts.
The training to push my body to hit that 100km goal for a great cause has begun.
