Story
This Christmas, let’s give hope — one neighbour to another.
For many families, Christmas is a time of excitement and celebration. But for households facing financial hardship, the cost of presents, food and all the extras that make Christmas special can feel overwhelming.
At Sutton Salvation Army, our Christmas Practical Support scheme brings people across our borough together to make a difference.
Last year, 346 children from across the London Borough of Sutton received gifts, stocking fillers and supermarket vouchers through our Christmas support. Families came to us through referrals from local schools, social services and other trusted community partners, supporting households experiencing a wide range of circumstances and financial pressures.
This year, we are expanding the scheme so that we can reach even more children and families who are facing hardship. Through our Christmas Pop-Up Shop, families will be able to choose gifts and stocking fillers for their children, alongside practical support with the cost of Christmas food.
We want the experience to be about more than receiving things. We want families to experience dignity, choice and kindness. We want a parent to be able to choose something they know their child will love. We want every family who comes through our doors to know that their community cares about them.
Your gift can help make that possible.
Whether you give a gift, donate towards a supermarket voucher, support our Pop-Up Shop or simply share our appeal, you are helping to bring hope to a family in Sutton this Christmas.
Thank you - we are so grateful for your support.
