Story

"Epilepsy is a common health condition, that too many people know nothing about. Most people see epilepsy as an inconvenience. Flashing lights and falling over. Not an unpredictable and potentially fatal condition.

Epilepsy Action is creating a world without limits for everyone affected by epilepsy, connecting people with others, and providing support and information you can trust. We’re calling out the misunderstanding, prejudice and barriers that stop people with epilepsy living their best life.

Epilepsy says stop. We say go."

I personally know two people who have lost their lives to an epileptic seizure (or consequenses of) in the last two years. This hits very close to home for me as my daughter also has epilepsy. It took a few years for her condition to stabilise after trying a few different medications; however while she was not well controlled her seizures could happen at least once a week.

One of the worst ones was when she was in the shower when she had a seizure; luckily we were in at the same time and heard the crash so we could go in and make sure she wasn't hurt badly, or even drown if she had covered the plughole. This shows how easy it can be for a seizure to be life threatening - if she had been on her own there may have been a different outcome or if she had taken a bath instead we would not have heard a thing.

Please help us to raise money for Epilepsy Action this year, their website offers support for people with epilepsy, their families and professionals in this field. By 2030 they want;

* For all people with epilepsy in the UK to say their lives have improved through the things we achieve together.

* For everyone to know what epilepsy is and how to support people living with epilepsy.

* To be fully inclusive in who they are and who they support.
