Story

Changing Charlie's Future supports Duchenne UK a charity that has one clear aim to end Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a devastating muscle-wasting disease. It is the most common and severe form of muscular dystrophy. Diagnosed in childhood, it mainly affects boys.

I didn't know much about Duchenne until late '21/early '22, we were just reappearing from COVID, and one of my oldest and closest friends told us that her then 3 year old nephew had received a diagnosis. I hadn't long had my little girl so the enormity of the news had a deep and lasting impact.

Now, I'm not a runner - by any stretch of the imagination - so this won't be pretty and it certainly won't be fast, but "life begins at the end of your comfort zone" as they say, and who better to test out that theory for than Charlie and all children affected by Duchenne.

Duchenne UK was started by families affected by the disease, and is the leading DMD charity in the UK: connecting the best researchers with industry, the NHS and families to advance and accelerate every stage of drug development.

Together, we will end Duchenne!
